Afdent is looking for a Director of Human Resources to build the people side of a large, established dental organization that is entering its next chapter.
This is a build role, not a maintenance role. Afdent has grown into one of the largest dental practices in the region, with a strong patient base, long tenured leaders, and a culture built around one idea: Patient Friendly Dentistry, which means meeting people where they are clinically, financially, and personally. What Afdent has not built yet is the people system underneath all of it. Job descriptions need to be written. Reviews need a real cadence. Managers need to be trained to coach their own teams instead of routing problems upward.
If you have spent your career maintaining a program someone else built and you are ready to build one yourself, this is that job.
What You Will Own
Rebuilding job descriptions across the organization, with clear expectations and a short scorecard for every position
A documented coaching review process, run on a schedule instead of triggered by a raise request
A salary and benefit evaluation process that is fair, structured, and consistent
A disciplinary process every leader applies the same way
A real onboarding program, plus department specific training paths
Training and coaching managers so they can hold performance conversations directly
Leading a full time Talent Acquisition Specialist and owning hiring quality and retention
Employment law compliance, team member relations, and partnership with payroll and benefits
Building the Mission, Vision, and Core Values into hiring, onboarding, recognition, and reviews so they are working tools rather than wall art
This Is a Fit If
You have five or more years in human resources, including time leading the function or a major part of it
You have built job descriptions, review processes, onboarding, or corrective action processes from scratch
You have supported a large multi department organization and understand what changes at that size
You know federal and Indiana employment law well enough to keep an organization out of trouble without slowing it down
You coach managers through hard conversations rather than taking those conversations over for them
You are comfortable being visible on the floor, in the departments, with the team, not only in an office

You prefer to work through policy documents rather than through people and conversations
You avoid conflict, or you would rather escalate a difficult conversation than have it
What Afdent Offers
Compensation of $140,000 - $180,000, based on experience

Afdent provides comprehensive care under one roof, including general dentistry, hygiene, surgery, dentures, orthodontics, and sleep, supported by a centralized call center, in house financing, and an in house lab. The organization is built around seeing the person, not just the patient.
